Alain Potrel was born in France in 1964.  He is a Canadian citizen, but lives and paints in America.  Alain never formally studied art, he was drawn to Earth Sciences where he obtained his PhD.  He independently studied abstraction for more than 40 years before picking up the brush and trying it himself.  Regarding the basis for his work, Alain says, "My inspiration is my life and my painting is driven by my emotions."

Stephen Lloyd Show in Evanston - June 7th, 2013

Please join us at our Evanston shop this Friday, June 7th from 6pm to 9pm for our opening reception of Stephen Lloyd's Acrylic Abstracts exhibit!

Here is a look into Stephen's vision:

DSCF0002.jpg

" My inspiration comes from the sights and sounds around me.  Through my love of nature, land, sea and sky and how they change color, shape and sound, I draw the impetus for my work.  Spontaneity is a key ingredient in the forms I present; for the same could be said in nature.  Working with different colors and combinations of colors is also a key and an important one in creating mood.

Since life to me is a spiritual journey to be shared, I try to inject my innermost feelings (emotions), into everything I do.

Because I have an Interior Design / Architectural background, I also draw inspiration from urban landscapes, interior decor, fashion and music.  All of these touch the senses and find their way into my expressions. "

OPRF Student Show at Frame Warehouse Oak Park

2013oprfstudent.JPG

Each year the Oak Park River Forest High School Art Department recognizes student achievement in the arts with a show at our Oak Park store.  All art disciplines contribute to this event.  Awards are given by the teachers to their best students. Frame Warehouse contributes all the framing for the event.  The framed pieces are then installed at the high school where students and faculty enjoy them during the following school year.  At the end of the year students are given their framed art to take home.  A great time was had by all!!!!
